Repairing is cheaper than replacing

The maintenance of an industrial tool often represents a high cost. In a context where budgets are tight, repair is an increasingly preferred solution rather than the purchase of new equipment. But this solution is only valid if you can trust the quality of the repair.

At Graux you will find the expertise to analyze the condition of your equipment and propose the optimum solution within your budget. Thanks to a very high level of know-how, especially in boiler making, welding and machining, Graux will recondition your part, even if it is very large, while guaranteeing the quality of the result. A great saving!

Example of a realization

Reconditioning of a heat deformed rolling mill furnace door

A rolling mill furnace door in the metallurgy industry suffers a lot. The temperature variations are very important, the handling conditions are difficult but they are the guarantor of the energy inside the furnace. It is therefore a strategic piece of equipment for which no risk should be taken: historically, these doors were replaced by new ones when they showed signs of fatigue.

In a context of cost optimization, the maintenance manager wanted to consider a repair but could not afford any mistakes.

This is why he called on GRAUX to analyze the condition of the structure and propose a budget for reconditioning, while maintaining the guarantee of flawless operation.

The budget proposal was very interesting compared to the cost of a new door, and reassured by GRAUX’s know-how, the maintenance manager validated the repair project. The intervention required a lot of analysis, care and experience to dismantle, straighten and reassemble the carbon steel and stainless steel refractory parts. The complex welding choices were mastered by our welding coordinator and we were able to offer a nearly new part.

This first door took its function during the next campaign and it has been working now for a few years without any problem. A second one has just been reconditioned!
